Girl Of The Week: Liza Thorn

Liza Thorn is the lead singer of San Francisco's BRIDEZ. Her sense of style has always struck me (and probably everyone she's encountered) - 1950's woven straw skirts as neckpieces, sequined/beaded EVERYTHING, silk kimonos and designer swimsuits...its endless. How Liza approaches style encompasses that of San Francisco - anything can be worn as anything, wear what you like regardless of who made it or if it's popular and in the end it all turns out looking incredibly chic. What is the first memorable article of clothing you owned?

Clear raincoat in 5th grade like the one rose mcgowan had in doom generation which I saw in 5th grade and I just HAD to find an identical one.

If you could collaborate with anyone, musican or non musican, alive or dead, who would it be?

I just moved to la I'd love to be friends with jack nicholson I could have a key to his house invite myself over whenever I want I'm sure he has a pool house I could move into rent free plus a pool. Borrow his car mini bar hollywood sign maid service etc.

If you could acquire a famous person's wardrobe, who's would it be?

Elvis I could sell it on ebay I'd be a millionaire.

What or who initially interested you in playing music?

Sitting in my room in middle school having no friends boredom drugs.

No one everyone looks great.

What is your most favorite outfit you've ever worn in your memory?

Gaultier bathing suit sunglasses ice cold beer xanax.

Spring in San Francisco

Coachella 2010

This past weekend I went to Coachella - the first time in 6 years! It was sweltering, but I actually enjoy hot weather & still survived wearing black pants. Highlights of the weekend: Jay Z with a surprise Beyonce cameo (of course), seeing lots of old friends, the crowd that amassed for San Francisco's own GIRLS, being finally able to break out crop tops without worrying that I'll be cold, seeing the Arctic Monkeys play in Pioneertown (an old western movie set about 35 mins north of palm springs) and picking up some really cool pieces for the shop! Although quite a bit of questionable fashion sense at Coachella (as there are with most outdoor festivals), we definitely caught some great outfits - lots of mixed florals & structured sun dresses being our favorites. Here are a few photos from our trip, we are back in Tennessee picking up new pieces for the shop - more to be added after the weekend!

We had the pleasure to stay for a few days at a friend's lovely ranch in Gilroy, California this week. Took a few photos and a short video - it was gorgeous & picturesque, a perfect mini vacation. Country Women

After spending a considerable amount of time in Nashville, my interest in country music has totally blown up and it's all I really listen to (especially while working on the shop) I find myself spending hours on youtube watching videos of the Ozark Jubilee and the Webb Pierce show. Most of these women are true beauties, especially one of my favorites, Goldie Hill. Her twangy, slightly deeper voice doesn't exactly match her soft movie star appearance - here's a few videos for some visuals:
